For the recruitment of Probationary Officers (PO) and Management Trainees (MT), the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection holds the IBPS PO Bank Exam which is also commonly known as Common Written Examination (CWE). The first CWE was conducted in 2011 therefore, it will be the seventh time that the exam will be conducted. It is officially known as IBPS PO /MT CWE VII 2018. Through this exam, services to all Public-Sector Banks, SBI, Associate Banks of SBI, RBI, NABARD, SIDBI, LIC & Insurance companies and regular member Banks of the IBPS society are provided.

The exam will be conducted in online mode at the various location throughout the country. For the year 2108, IBPS PO 2018 has been scheduled on 13th, 14th, 20th, 21st October 2018, whereas, the Mains exam will be held on 18th November 2018.

IBPS PO 2018 Notification

The official notifications for the IBPS PO 2018 will be out in August. After the release of the official notification, the online registration for the exam will begin. The online registration for the same will be from August to September 2018. For the exam this year, IBPS has released 3562 vacancies, which is same as the previous year. The examination will in online mode. The exam is conducted in three stages. The pre-exam will be held in October, while the main exam will be conducted in November 2018. This will be followed by Interview later. In order to clear the exam, the candidate needs to pass every stage and get shortlisted and then on the basis of the rank scored in the Mains and Interview, the candidates are selected for the final. This exam will be a golden opportunity which is for many of those who are preparing for making their career in banking sector. IBPS PO Exam Centre

The exam will be conducted online for which many centers are made in India. The candidates are given choice to fill their preferable location during the registration. But in case, due to the fulfillment of seats in that particular center, IBPS may allot different center than the filled one. The centers are made all over the country. The address of exam center will be provided in the call letters by IBPS.

Last year there were 3562 vacant posts for IBPS, therefore, it is believed that there would be more or less same than the last year. Seeing the competition in which around 20 lakh aspirants participate, IBPS may increase the vacant seats. The final list will be out soon.

IBPS PO Exam Pattern

For the exam IBPS PO 2018, the exam will be conducted in two stages, i.e., Tier 1 or IBPS Preliminary Exam and Tier 2 or IBPS Mains Exam. The candidates clearing the above-mentioned stages will be called for the personal interview.

IBPS PO Prelims Exam Pattern

The first stage consists of Preliminary Exam which is conducted online and has a duration of 1 hour. The exam has 3 sections which will have 100 questions with the maximum score of 100 marks. The candidates need to clear the cut-off in each respective section in order to qualify the exam. There is a negative marking also in which 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. The pattern is given below:

IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern

The pattern is changed for this year. The candidates clearing the first stage will be giving the mains exam. From this year, IBPS has added descriptive paper in its mains exam. Now there will be 4 sections having a total score of 200 marks of 180 minutes duration and descriptive paper 1 with 25 marks and the time allotted would be of 30 minutes. The candidates have to complete each section in their given time duration series-wise. There is negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer. The exam pattern for the Mains is given below with section-wise details:

IBPS PO Interview

Candidates after qualifying the two exams will be called for face-to-face interview round which will be taken by a panel of bank officials. The interview round generally goes for 10-15 mins. This round consists of the maximum marks of 100 in which the candidates have to get a minimum of 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). The weightage (ratio) of CWE (Main exam) and interview for final merit list will be 80:20 respectively.

IBPS PO Prelims Exam Syllabus 2018

As the exam pattern has changed for this year which will now include the descriptive paper in its mains exam along with 4 sections. This exam consists of 5 sections which will include questions from Reasoning & Computer, English Language, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General Awareness, and Descriptive Test (LetterWriting &Essay).

IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria – 2018

Education Qualification:

The candidates pursuing graduation degree in any of the streams such as BA, B.Com, BSc, B.Tech, etc., from a University recognized by the Government of India are eligible for this exam. The candidates should have the certificates proving the accurate details of the marks obtained in Graduation. The details are needed to be filled at the time of registration.

Nationality Qualification:

The following categories of citizens are allowed for IPBS PO 2018:

  1. Citizen of India
  2. Subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  3. Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement
  4. Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who have migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India

Candidates belonging to the category 2, 3, 4 must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Govt of India in their favor.

Age Qualification:

The candidates between the ages 20-30 years are allowed to sit for the exam. However, the government has some age criterion relaxation for various categories which is given below:

Along with all these, the knowledge of computer operation is a must as this will be conducted online. Also, the candidates should have verbal and written proficiency in official language of the State/UT. The candidates should be able to read, write and speak the language, as it would be needed.

Furthermore, the applicants can get the admit card which will be issued 10 to 15 days before the IBPS PO 2018 Exam. The admit card or call letter for IBPS PO 2018 will be issued in 3 phases:

IBPS PO 2018 Results

The result will be declared after the completion of each round of the exam. The Final Merit state wise and category wise List shall be prepared in descending order of the marks secured by the candidates in the Online Main Examination and interview. Candidates who fall within the number of vacancies in the merit list shall be considered for appointment subject to Medical Fitness.
